Bass are kinda starting

Postby bullnuts on Sun Apr 11, 2010 7:47 pm

Took the twins out to Brush Hollow this afternoon. The lake is WAAAAY up, which was cool since I haven't seen it that high in several years.
We flipped and pitched, mostly, and Dillon pulled a nice largemouth on a brush hog. Daniel was throwing a rattle trap and he caught a trout. Me? I drove the boat and had this skunky odor following me around.
The water temp is up in the 50s, so the fish shouldn't be too far off the shallows now. I'm looking for the crappie to start spawning in the next week and then the big bass will start moving up.

Nice job boys.. Sorry about the skunky thing Bill :P We were at McConaugy this weekend on the rocks most of the night Friday. Only caught 3 but they were real nice walleys.19"-24". Had a dandy parade of boats tho. Spread out the complete length of the dam about 25 yds apart.WHAT A ZOO!The DOW had gill nets out on the north 1/3 of the dam & in 2 nights got their complete quota in those 2 nights.Had a great ol gall fowl hooked in the tail for a few minutes, around 9#.She tested the tackle real well.It looked like the trollers were doing better than the guys on the rocks.Going back in the middle of the week (20th) & mabe avoid at least some of the crowd.Be more moonlight so mabe can see something.Legs still feel like I was in a 50 mile marathon.

I saw on the news that CDOW was milking walleyes out at Pueblo.
That was always the time of year to pull some good bass on jerk baits.

Yep, they normally start doing the walleyes around March 10 or so. The res should be going pretty good for jerk baits. I couldn't even get a chaser on a rogue at BH, though. Give it a week and it ought to be good.

Bullnuts, any updates on BH? Sure would like to catch a mess of crappies. Went out last year around this time and didn't catch nuttin' from the bank. I didn't have live minnows so maybe that was part of it but without a boat couldn't really work a jig. The wind was blowing pretty good too when I went.

Man if the wind would ever stop blowing I bet it would be pretty awesome. I've been trying the last three days to head to the lake after work and each time I try the wind is up around 35 mph and gusting. The good news is, the fish aren't seeing much pressure right now so the first decent day should be a good one!
